Midi Command Studio Beta

£0+

Turn any MIDI controller into a programmable Windows control surface.

MIDI Command Studio lets you build a custom control setup for your workflow — launch programs, run macros, control apps, manage per-app or system volume, and switch between presets instantly. It’s designed for anyone who wants fast, tactile control without diving into menus and remembering shortcuts.

MIDI Command Studio

Who it’s for

Anyone who wants hardware control over Windows apps using a MIDI controller or MIDI keyboard.

What MIDI Command Studio does (Full version requires activation)

MIDI Command Studio turns any MIDI controller into a powerful, fully customisable control surface for Windows applications. It’s designed to be quick to map, easy to use, and flexible enough to handle more complex workflows.

At a glance, you can:

  • Control Windows apps and volume with a MIDI device
  • Trigger keyboard shortcuts, type text, perform mouse actions, run programs, and open files
  • Create app-specific shortcuts so commands only go to the application you choose
  • Build powerful macros (multi-step actions) without scripting
(For example: open an app → run shortcuts → move and click the mouse → open a file)
  • Control Windows master volume or a specific app’s volume using a knob or fader
(You can reuse the same fader for multiple apps via preset switching)
  • Use modifiers to give encoders/jog wheels a second mode (one encoder can perform two different functions)
  • Use multiple MIDI devices in a single setup
  • Receive LED feedback on supported controllers for mapped buttons
  • Add shortcuts quickly from a large Shortcut Library of app-specific actions
(Descriptions are auto-filled when using the Shortcut Library)

Presets & workflow switching

Presets let you build completely different control layouts for different workflows — such as OBS, Firefox, Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve, VLC, etc.

  • Presets are device-specific, so one controller can hold many layouts
  • Switch presets instantly from the controller itself, without touching the mouse
  • A single device can jump between workflows like “OBS mode”, “DaVinci Resolve mode”, or “Photoshop mode” in seconds

MIDI Thru

MIDI Thru allows you to keep playing your keyboard into a DAW while also using selected keys, buttons, or controls for mappings. This is ideal for controlling your apps directly from the keyboard you're recording with.
(Requires a third-party virtual MIDI port such as loopMIDI.)

Help & documentation

Built-in help is included and can be accessed directly from the Settings window within the app.

Free vs full version

Free version
